Prior to digital cameras, all video and photography was captured using film, a plastic strip coated with light sensitive material. When exposed to light thorough a camera lens and properly developed, the image taken will appear on the film, During the developing process the image becomes permanent and the film strip transitions into what’s called the negative. Negatives can be enlarged, printed, or scanned to be shared digitally.
